Programs Organized and been organizing by the trust since its establishment

01. Emergency / Disaster Relief

Natural disasters such as earthquakes and floods can often come at the least expected time. Others, such as hurricanes and cyclones are increasing in severity and destruction. Typically, the poor are the worst hit for they have the least resources to cope and rebuild. When a natural disaster strikes, the OSOCT Volunteers play a role in responding. Resources and employee support are mobilized to assist the affected communities. In many cases, OSOCT is in a unique position to address the particular needs caused due to natural disasters, as our capabilities include technology, expertise and products in areas such as water, food and health care. When natural disasters and humanitarian crises strike, communities are often devastated and left vulnerable, having little access to some of life essentials, such as food, clean water, shelter, and basic services. While they must deal with the tragic loss of human life and property, they also have to face the uncertainty of seeing their livelihoods destroyed or severely affected. We provide compassionate care to those in need .OSOCT responds to disaster victims, ranging from home fires that affect a single family to hurricanes, earthquakes and flood that impacts thousands. We help them get back on their feet. OSOCT works in partnership with other agencies that provide services to disaster victims. Let us join together. Each and every disaster which may be natural / man-made affects many of the people living here. OSOC Trust conducts disaster relief camps whenever such situation arises and backs the people in the affected area by providing all the amenities required by them. Cyclones like Hud-Hud are successfully supported by OSOC Trust by providing all necessities to the people in the critical time.

07. Women & Gender

Women in India consistently lag behind men in terms of access to education, health care, jobs etc. Apart from the economic and social inequality, women are victims of heinous crimes such as dowry deaths, rape, molestation and immoral trafficking. The reasons could be varied for various women, some women could be deprived of these opportunities because their men don’t want them to work, the others may be restricted due to family pressures or peer pressures. Of the 1.3 billion people who live in absolute poverty around the globe, 70 percent are women. For these women, poverty doesn’t just mean scarcity and want. It means rights denied, opportunities curtailed and voices silenced. We believe that an empowered woman can change a lot in the society. We believe in practical steps to create income for women, who are capable ,intelligent and willing to work. OSOCT is working at the grass root level to empower women to attain economic participation in order to overcome poverty and inequality. You can support this effort by contributing to this cause and thus help empowerment of marginalized women. We also support poor women to start business and make their livelihood. Let us also lend a helping hand to these oppressed section by joining with this cause. Join Now

09. Human Rights
Human rights in India is an issue complicated by the country’s large size, its tremendous diversity, its status as a developing country and a sovereign, secular, democratic republic. The Constitution of India provides for fundamental rights, which include freedom of speech, education and religion. Human Rights are rights inherent to all human beings, whatever be our nationality, place of residence, sex, national or ethnic origin, colour, religion, language or any other status, we are all equally entitled to our human rights without discrimination. India, the world’s most populous democracy, continues to have significant human rights problems despite making commitments to tackle some of the most prevalent abuses. The country has a thriving civil society, free media, and an independent judiciary. But longstanding abusive practices, corruption, and lack of accountability for perpetrators foster human rights violations. OSOCT takes positive actions to facilitate the enjoyment of basic human rights.

16. Old-AgeCare / Home

People above 60 years of age are considered as ‘old’ and as constituting the ‘elderly’ segment of the population. The Indian aged population is currently the second largest in the world. The absolute number of the over 60 population in India will increase from 76 million in 2001 to 137 million by 2021. The shift in age structure makes issues of social security and economic support for elderly people very crucial. India, with its predominantly agrarian based economy, has inadequate social security provisions for its older people. Living arrangements of older people are influenced by several factors such as gender, health status, presence of disability, socio-economic status and societal traditions. Generations of older Indians have found shelter in the extended family system during crises, be these social, economic or psychological. However, the traditional family is fast disappearing, even in rural areas. With urbanization, families are becoming nuclear, smaller and are not always capable of caring for older relatives. Yet, in India, older people are still cared for by their families. Living in old age homes is neither popular nor feasible. Allowing parents to live in old age homes draws criticism from the family network and society at large. Living alone is usually due to widowhood, childlessness or migration of children. Women in Indian society are vulnerable throughout their lifetime and that increases into their old age. Like any other crisis ageing is a challenge and a problem. OSOCT have been raising resources to protect the rights of India’s elderly and provide relief to them through various interventions. We wish to voice the needs of India’s 100 million “grey” population, and directly impact the lives the of elders through our services.
OSOCTrust has ran an old age home containing more than 30 people. Trust has engaged some volunteers to take care of those needy old people. But due to the road widening, our old age home has undergone demolition and the trust seeks help to rebuild that old age home and help the weak old-aged people deprived of love and care.
