Donation Options

With increased popularity of internet usage, online donations to NGOs in India have also taken a forward leap. Openheart Social Organisation & Charitable Trust ( OSOCT ) too makes available the online donation option for its benevolent donors. The provision of online donations to NGOs in India has opened up a whole new platform for support that can receive benefit from across the world.

  OSOCT online donations platform allows the donor to contribute from his or her comfort zone at the time that is suitable and easy for them. Through this platform one can donate to the NGO in India through credit card, debit card, wire transfer or net banking. Just as offline donors receive tax exemption for any amount that is more than Rs.500, the same way online donors too are eligible for tax exemption on donation. Donors who contribute Rs. 500 or more through OSOCT online donations receive an acknowledgement from the NGO along with a tax exemption donation certificate.

Tax Deduction for Donations to OSOCT :

  Donations to Openheart Social Organisation & Charitable Trust are eligible under section 80 G(5)(VI) of the Indian Income Tax. Once you have made the donation, a receipt of the same and a Tax Exemption Certificate along with a ‘Thank you’ letter will be sent to you via courier or post. The certificate and receipt which will reach you within 10 working days of making the donation can be used to avail tax exemption for the respective financial year.

Terms & Conditions

The online donations through credit / debit cards should be used only for making donations to the Openheart Social Organisation & Charitable Trust. In case you wish to make your contribution to OSOCT for any other purpose, please use the cheque / pay order / DD method.

All donations accepted through online methods will be accounted for as the income of the OSOCT and will be applied for the charitable purposes they are meant for. However, if the donor wishes to make a large Corpus donation as its long term capital, then he should only use the cheque / pay order / DD method and state specifically in his covering letter that the donation is meant as contribution to the Corpus of OSOCT. In the absence of such specific direction, the donation will be accounted for as income of OSOCT by the Indian Income Tax Dept.

The facility of making online donations is currently restricted to Indian nationals and Indian organisations, in Indian rupees only. In case the donor is a foreign national or a foreign owned or controlled organisation, then he should only use the cheque / pay order / DD facility for making donations. It is, however advisable to use the direct bank remittance facility from outside India for this purpose. The necessary instructions in this regard can be obtained by sending an e mail to [email protected]

Please note that the credit / debit cards issued outside India are currently not eligible to be used for online donations. If you want to donate through the above options, you should send an intimation e-mail to our trust mail id and your valid passport details.

All donations will be accepted as donations meant for the various Human-care related activities being undertaken by OSOCT (Purpose-General) unless the donor specifies the purpose for which the donation should be used.

All donations will be eligible for tax deduction benefits under Section 80 G of the Income Tax Act as per the extant rules. OSOCT will be sending a receipt for the donation made, enclosing a copy of the 80 G certificate, to the address indicated on the registration form within 25 days of receiving the payment.

Please note that there is a levy of 3% charged by the Bank / Card companies on the online donation made through credit / debit card. As a result, in such cases, the receipt issued by OSOCT will be for the amount net of this levy. Please contact OSOCT by email or post in case you do not receive the receipt in the time indicated.

All donors making a donation of more than Rs 40000/- are, by law, required to give their PAN number on the registration form. The donors are most welcome to re-assure themselves that their donations have been used for the purpose they have specified. In this connection, they may contact OSOCT. In the case of donations exceeding Rs 10 lacs, OSOCT will be able to provide an audited certificate of end use if so requested by the donor.

Cancellation Policy

Once a donation has been made for a particular purpose, no refund can be made of the donation; nor can the end purpose be changed.

The Trust deeply values all contributions to sustain our mission. To protect the privacy of our donors and their special relationship with OSOCT, we maintain the following policies:

Our Trust provides you an income tax certificate that gives you an exemption under section 80g of Government of India.

Note: Certificate is only issued for donations that are 500 INR and above.
